LUSD offers Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) to students in grades 9-12. AVID is an opportunity for students to receive additional academic, social, and emotional support to help them succeed in rigorous courses.
LUSD high schools offer AVID electives to students in grades 9-12. High school AVID electives are year-long courses that count as A-G electives. Each week, students receive instruction utilizing a rigorous college preparatory curriculum provided by the AVID Center with tutoring support to develop students’ analytical reading, writing, communication, and academic success skills. AVID prepares students with the skills for studying, test-taking, note-taking, and researching as well as preparing for college exams. More information is available at school sites.
