Homeless Services

LUSD provides assistance to students and families experiencing homelessness in compliance with the McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act in collaboration with school personnel and community service agencies in an effort to maximize access to various educational, social and enrichment programs which promote academic success and student achievement. This includes individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence are considered to be living in transition. This includes school-age children who have a nighttime residence that is: shared with another family, a shelter, motel or hotel, transitional housing, trailer park, campground, makeshift arrangements in someone's home or a place not designed for human accommodation.
