Board of Education Commitments

Commitments
As Trustees of the Lompoc Unified School District, the Board of Education is committed to the highest level of professionalism and active engagement in District events and activities, This includes:

Time 

  • Attending at all board meetings (regular and special) 
  • Fully preparing for board meetings by reading entire agenda packets and participating in meetings with the Superintendent and/or Cabinet members
  • Asking and answering all of one’s questions prior to board meetings 
  • Being present at school and district events throughout the year (e.g., Open Houses, Sporting events)

Professionalism 

  • Treating all board members, staff, students, families, and the public with respect 
  • Participating in healthy debate on agenda items
  • Supporting Board decisions, regardless of one’s individual vote 

Roles and Responsibilities 
As Trustees of the Lompoc Unified School District, the Board of Education plays a critical role in the success of the District. The primary responsibilities of the Trustee are: 

  • Setting the direction of the District 
  • Monitoring progress toward the vision
  • Establishing and supporting an effective and efficient structure for the District
  • Creating a supportive environment for students, families, staff, and the community 
  • Ensuring accountability to the public 
  • Demonstrating community leadership

On March 14, 2023, the Lompoc Unified School District Board of Education and Superintendent adopted the LUSD Governance Team Handbook.
