LUSD offers high school students Career Technical Education (CTE) opportunities to experience and develop essential academic, technical, and employability skills needed for success in higher education and the workforce. CTE courses are based on state standards, offer students rigorous learning experiences, and many meet A-G requirements. CTE Pathways are sequenced courses within career areas that connect high school classes, college classes, and industry certifications. Students who complete CTE courses in a Pathway successfully receive a Certificate of Skills listing all of the skills mastered. CTE Pathways are available at Cabrillo High School, Lompoc High School, and Maple High School.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
CTE offers students an opportunity to experience what it’s like to work in a career even before graduating from high school. Students get a chance to care for patients, operate an aquarium, or create video games, for example. Because CTE is connected to businesses and colleges, students meet professionals in the field, get internships, and even earn college credits while still in high school.
CTE is available for all high school students throughout the Lompoc Unified School District regardless of race, sex, color, ancestry, religion, marital or parental status, gender, or disability.
Students in CTE earn credit toward graduation, just like any other course. Depending on the pathway, students can earn credit toward A-G requirements and community college credit. Students work closely with school counselors to ensure that they are on track for high school graduation, meeting the A-G requirements, and achieving their personal goals.
