Lompoc Unified School District welcomes YOU!

At LUSD, we are proud to serve military-connected students and their families. With many families in our community moving frequently due to military service, we recognize the importance of providing a smooth transition, strong support systems, and clear communication.

Our Vision

Our vision is for every military-connected student in Lompoc Unified to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, no matter how often they move or where their service takes them. By cultivating trusting relationships, embracing innovation, and partnering with families and the broader Space Force community, we strive to be a model district where military families feel valued, supported, and at home.

Our History

Our community experienced major growth beginning in the 1950s with the establishment of nearby Vandenberg Air Force Base, now Vandenberg Space Force Base, which remains one of the nation’s most important launch and missile testing sites. Today, Lompoc is proud to be home to many military families whose service contributes to both our local community and to America’s space and defense missions.

Our Partnership

LUSD’s partnership with Vandenberg Space Force Base ensures that all students, especially military-connected students, have unique opportunities to explore and imagine future careers. VSFB representatives regularly participate in Career Weeks at our schools, sharing real-world insight into aerospace and defense fields. In addition, all 5th grade students take part in STARBASE, a hands-on STEM program that builds teamwork, problem-solving, and excitement for science and technology. These partnerships connect classroom learning with real-world experiences, inspiring students to dream big and see themselves as future innovators.
